The IDEMS project has as its general objective the definition of a reference model for use by Public Administrations for the integration between the systems of environmental management (EMAS and ISO 14001) and the systems of environmental balance / accounting (Environmental Balance CLEAR and Ecobudget) that responds to the needs of the local authorities in the adoption of an urban environmental management Plan which has as its aim, the establishment of greater environmental policy efficiency and a continuous improvement in management and urban environmental performance.

Notable features of the project are:
  • to plan and put into practice a Standard for the implementation of the Integrated System obtaining EMAS registration for the 4 developer partners (Ravenna, Ferrara, Mantova, Amaroussion);
  • to identify useful recommendations that can help the implementation of EMAS in urban areas particularly in light of the revision of EMAS regulations in 2008
  • to supply the European Commission with functional information about the implementation of Urban Environmental Management Plans.

As part of the activity to disseminate and broadcast the IDEMS project’s contents, the publication of some newsletters has been programmed.
